12 Days of Christmas – Two Turtle Doves – Daily Wedding Inspiration Countdown

12 days of christmas 2

Day two of my daily countdown to christmas brings us some sweet love and imagery focusing on Two Turtle Doves! Doves have always been a significant part of weddings throughout history, but only in the last few years have they been used less and less. Nevertheless, the use of birds and the significance of being free and so wonderfully in love ring true, especially at this blessed time of year amoungst friends and family!

Todays inspiration quickly evolved into being very very vintage, with lots of neutrals, pastels and birdies!

Vendor Review – Brick & Mortar Living – New Westminster, B.C.

Hello All!

This week I decided to write a vendor review of a store that has quickly become a favourite for me in so so many ways.

Brick and Mortar Living is a wonderful home decor & gift shop that has the best in the lower mainland for canadian and local vendors and designers. From amazing jewellery, cute pillows and even more fantastic owners, this store continues to amaze me in so many ways. So far I have purchased great finds from Emma, Julia and Mama, many of which have been used at various events I have hosted and produced this past fall. I was fortunate to pick up an amazing egg basket lighting feature (Robyn’s Vintage Nest), along with a fantastic WTF (What the Frame?!) jewellery frame (which worked wonders as a seating chart, and is now being used by me in my home for its proper usage), along with many many more repurposed, refurbished, and unique Gems. I even found a FANTASTIC candle-labra that is going to be featured in an upcoming shoot for my newest project! (teehee, stay tuned for more news of that!)

One thing that sets Brick & Mortar Living apart from so many other small gift stores is their knack and ease at attracting friends and neighbours from afar. I have been trolling around Facebook and seeing who has had a chance to drop by, just from my personal friends, and more than 25 have tickled their fancies within their white washed walls. Some even have travelled from as far away as White Rock and West Van. Clearly, these ladies know how to connect and use social media to their advantage. Not only that, they are the friendliest ladies I have ever had the opportunity to meet in a local store to date!

Check out some of the photos that they have snapped from around the shop, and please visit their facebook page, if you haven’t already done so!

I picked up one of these wonderful necklaces made out of old tea cup spoons! My grandmother has a million and one of these old spoons floating around the house so it always reminds me of her when I wear it! Check out Georgina Baker Jewellery!

Absolutely LOVING these bridal headpieces which are a perfect accessory for the vintage savvy bride! Check out Blue Brocade!

We picked up one of their old world suitcases to be used as a card box at our thanksgiving rustic/vintage wedding. It was a perfect fit!

Why look-y here! There it is on the bottom right! ❤

To cut this long story short, please don’t be shy, and go visit the lovely ladies over at Brick & Mortar Living. I promise that you will not be leaving empty handed, and you will be proud of it.

I don’t think I have left once without picking up something fabulous and heart warming.

Here is to a long life and a bright future for Idea! and Brick & Mortar Living. It is only just the beginning!

xoxo Ainsley

Fashion Friday – Classic Vera

Fashion Friday: Every friday we plan to bring you the best in bridal fashion. Whether it is a local designer, a fashion guru, or a major national brand, we wish to inspire your fashion glands and entice you with beautiful white (and sometimes coloured) gowns!

When we decided to create a new blog series, called Fashion Friday, we couldn’t think of a better place to start than with Vera. Her timeless elegance, intricate yet strikingly simple designs have always held a special place in my heart. Perhaps it was when I first started looking at bridal magazines, or possibly when I swooned over the Vera in Bridal Wars (yes, I do love that movie, and always felt bad for Anne), but I just cannot help but post some of my very favourite gowns of Vera’s 2013 Fall Line.

Some of you may already know that I am starting my second job as a bridal consultant for the new David’s Bridal, opening in Langley B.C. in 2 months. I will be working full time there, servicing brides and their families, and I look forward to possibly meeting you there! Please feel free to ask me any questions about gowns, fashion, fit and style, as I have a lot of experience working with custom made gowns, as well as designer gowns. I will be happy to help you make one of the most important decisions of your wedding plans!
Much love to you all!

#13 – The Pocket Dresses – 2013 Wedding Trends

There is nothing better in this world than having a dress that holds all your important things (iPhone, lipstick, cards, and bar change)… trust me. I know.

So when the trend of wedding dresses with pockets came along, I was ecstatic! Gone are the days where your MOH is bogged down with your phone, lipstick, touchups and kleenex. With an ample gown, you can store all of those things in your pockets! Hooray!

Now, I have one fair warning for all those planning on stuffing their pockets full of goodies: Avoid bright coloured items! Heaven forbid your photos coming back with your neon pink phone case showing right through your beautiful dress! Also, if you are going to have things like lipgloss or lipstick in your pockets, throw them in a little ziplock first to avoid any chance of them seeping out on your white gown!

Here are some super cute pocket gowns that are super cute for 2013:

Anyways lovelies! I can’t wait to share more 2013 trends with you in the coming weeks!

Much love to you all,

Ainsley xoxo

#18 – Lace, Lace and MORE LACE! – 2013 Wedding Trends

Yes, we have all seen Vera Wang’s 2013 collection. Filled with Blood Reds, Burgundeys and near black gowns, we all wonder, is this going to be all over the place next year??? We have seen tons of blush, blue, lavender and dark cream gowns take centre stage this summer, and they have made an impact on next years trends.

In our opinion, 2013 is going to see TONs of Lace and lace and lace and more lace. Simple lace, extravagant lace, coloured lace, lace edged veils, layered lace and the list goes on! Many different stores are rushing to fill their stocks with lace gowns of every variety, including Ruche, who’s recent look book make us all dream of wedded bliss in lavender fields dressed in lace. (http://shopruche.com/bridal-1/bridal-dresses.html?p=2 – check out the lookbook lace and lavender)

Here are some of our favourite visions of lace:

I think every bride deserves to wear whatever she feels most beautiful in, so whether it is lace, tulle, a pant suit, or a little white dress, we support you in your choice! Dont forget to feel wonderful, and beautiful!

Love you all!
